Problems and issues(1)
I want to point out that our tutor told us to create individual blogs for the final assignment. Im afraid that Dr.Neo might have not checked all the blogs in the first assessment and that is the reason we didn’t get a high mark.We will have one page in the group blog for each member instead of many blogs.
P.S: for some reason, im unable to post individual posts for each entry in my page. I can only edit my page. I think this is the reason other group's blogs have one post for each member also.
The proposed topic
The topic that our group will be working on is the state of Selangor. Selangor is located on the western side of Peninsular Malaysia. It is the richest most developed state of Malaysia.Tourism is not a major contributor to Selangor's economy. Industrial and service sectors are dominating at this time.
Slangor is filled with attractions however our resources may limit us from discussing all of them. We wish to one attractive place that has the potential for attracting tourists.
As a foreigner i will list some of the places that i find interesting. We will cover one of these attractions based their importance and availability of materials:
Batu Caves
National Zoo
Carey Island
Gombak Orang Asli Centre
Bukit Belimbing Fireflies
Sunway Lagoon
Jugra Historical Buildings
The Mines
Putrajaya
KLIA
Sepang International Circuit
Shopping Malls
Genting Highlands
Group meetings/discussions(1)
The main topic for our team website will be an attraction in Selangor. During our first meeting, we decided that each team member must suggest one topic for the website. Then we will discuss the topics and choose one.
I am going to suggest Putrajaya.
Its main advantage is that there are lots of resources available for this topic. Since the main goal of our assignment is to show our multimedia skills, i think we should focus on the design rather than attractiveness of the topic.
There is no real downside to this topic except the fact that some tourists prefer to visit places that are more fun like sport related activities(scuba diving, exploring wild places,...) or exclusive clubs which are not available in Putrajaya.

Group meetings/discussions(2)
After online discussion on the topic, we decided to work on Subang Jaya and its main attraction Sunway Lagoon.
We hope to cover major information and tips that a tourist may need about the place. During our initial planning, we decided to focus on these main topics:
. About subang Jaya?

. How to get there?
like the project guidelines say, each member will work on one specific part and post the log in his/her page.
Group meetings/discussions(3)
I had an online discussion with my team leader and we decided that I work on an “about” page on Subang jaya and talk about the history of the place also.
Division of tasks(1)
So far, this is what each member has to do:
Each member will have his/her own link in the group blog and work on his/her part there. My task is talk a a little about history of Subang Jaya and also give general information about the place.
For the logo design, flash animation and the remaining stuff, we will have another meeting.
Goal of my page and some content
My page in the website should give some general information about Subang Jaya and its history. It will have text as well as photographs for familiarizing the reader with the topic of the website.
I have prepared some text content for my part of the website.
About Subang Jaya
Subang Jaya is a wealthy suburban city in the Klang Valley, Selangor, Malaysia. It is situated in Petaling Jaya. Some districs of Subang Jaya are Bandar Sunway, UEP Subang Jaya, Putra Heights and Batu Tiga. The city is managed by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ). Due to its strategic location, the demand for property in Subang Jaya has been high which caused the prices to go up rapidly. In 2010, it is Malaysia's most populated city with 1,553,589 residents.
Being a residential area, it is equipped with schools, colleges, hospital, and various commercial facilities. Subang Jaya is well-connected to the cities of Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya. Masjid Darul Ehsan is the main worshipping place of Muslims in Subang Jaya.
History and Development
Subang jaya was formerly an oil palm plantation. Subang Jaya was originally a town of Petaling Jaya. However, due to the high population and fast developments, it has earned its own admistrative government, the Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya. The city was developed by Sime UEP Berhad, a subsidiary of Sime Darby. Construction work for the development of Subang Jaya began in 1974 and was concluded in 1988. At completion of Subang Jaya Sime UEP began clearing land for the development of UEP Subang Jaya, one of the most prestigious areas of Klang valley.
In 1997, Subang Jaya was granted the status of a municipality. Hence, the local authority was transferred from the Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya (MPPJ) (Petaling Jaya Municipal Council) to Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) (Subang Jaya Municipal Council). The MPSJ is the government authority not only in Subang Jaya, but also USJ, Putra Heights, Batu Tiga, Bandar Sunway, Puchong, Bandar Kinrara, Seri Kembangan, Balakong, and other parts of Petaling district.
User interface and layout
I have been thinking about the design of my page. This is what I have come up with so far. Please note that I have never been an artist so please bear with me.
There are 3 main elements to this layout. From left to right:
1. Side bar which contains the logo, navigational buttons and a small list like series of photos that the user can click and see the large version on the right side.
2. Text is the information I want to present to the visitor.
3. Large size version of the small photos in the sidebar. When user clicks the small picture, the large picture will change.
These are some design principles that I will implement during the creation of my page:
1. Simplicity and organization: the page is divided into 3 main parts vertically.
2. 2/3 : 1/3: the page is organized in a way that the sidebar takes one third of the page width and the remaining two third will be left for the content.
3. Balance: the large picture on the right will balance out the graphical work of the side bar on the left.
4. White space: enough space will be left empty between the elements such as logo, navigation menu and the small sized photos.
5. Consistency and visual weight: the title of the text will be typed in larger font size than the paragraphs. Title will also be written black while the text will be in grey.
Creating the page with Adobe Dreamweaver
As I mentioned before, all our group members are from tutorial section A. Sadly we did not have the software installed in our lab class.
I am following a book that shows how to do different things in Dreamweaver in a step-by-step way. Good thing about this book is that it is in Farsi and it uses a lot of pictures.
This is what I have finished doing a few minutes ago. I still need to add one extra frame for the photos but it seems that the photos might get to small if I divide the page to 3 columns. I will decide later.
